Critically acclaimed Irish singer Cara Dillon performs folk covers and original compositions from her fifth solo album, A Thousand Hearts.
Her music, which ranges from ancient Celtic ballads to her own songs about leaving home, faith, lust and unrequited love, transcends genres and constantly crosses the barriers of what folk music is traditionally believed to be. With lyrics full of emotion and radiance, you’re unlikely to find a more emotive and ethereal folk singer.
Raised in the small village of Dungiven, Northern Ireland, Cara has been singing all her life and has enjoyed a succesful solo career after leaving folk supergroup Equation in the late nineties. She has performed with major orchestras and even formed her own Orchestra of Ireland to headline festivals. She’s won countless awards and accolades including Album Of The Year at the BBC Radio 2 Folk Awards, The Meteor Music Award for Best Irish Female, and Tatler’s Woman Of The Year in Music.
