Tenterden Folk Festival is pleased to announce that, thanks to grant funding from Kent Community Foundation and The Overstone Trust, Tenterden Folk Festival will be organising and running a series of workshops on folk song, music, dance and tradtional storytelling.
Our workshop leaders will visit a small number of selected Primary, Junior and Secondary schools and work with small groups of students to get them singing traditional folk songs and, where appropriate, playing the tunes for the songs and for folk dancing. We also aim to teach the students some Morris dancing, All our workshop leaders are experienced at teaching children and adults and will have the necessary DBS checks.
Our priority is to work with students with special needs and those who do not normally get the opportunity to take part in extra activities. We aim to make these workshops fun as well as beneficial to the students development, and life experience. We hope that some of the students will showcase what they have learnt at Tenterden Folk Festival and go on to join local folk song and dance groups and clubs.
