I’ve just been listening to the soon to be released new album from Katie Spencer and I can highly recommend it. ‘Weather Beaten’ is Katie Spencer’s debut full-length album and the ten-track recording superbly captures her unique and atmospheric singing voice and brilliant guitar playing. The recording is vibrant and bright yet still retains the intimacy and warmth of Katie’s live performances.
Katie’s abilities as a singer, songwriter and guitarist have rocketed over the past few years and ‘Weather Beaten’ is testimony to the heights she has reached. The recording encapsulates her song writing and musicianship and creates a wonderfully textured and haunting snapshot of where she is today.
Katie said “making my first full length album has been a real joy, it has been a journey of discovery which has allowed me to truly capture the freedom and intimacy of the songs. Working with Spencer Cozens on this album has given the recordings a clarity and energy similar to that of a live performance. I’m really looking forward to releasing this album on 1st March!”
Katie Spencer’s ‘Weather Beaten’ Album Launch is on Friday, 1 March at Middleton Hall, Hull University. Tickets are available from Hull Box Office (01482 221113) or https://www.hullboxoffice.com/event/weather-beaten-album-launch-katie-spencer-support/
“Katie’s guitar playing has echoes of my dear friend the late great Bert Jansch. Like a musical weaver she threads her poetic lyrics through the guitar’s strings and produces little tapestries of song.” Ralph McTell.
