Beverley Folk Festival will once again bring some fun and flare to the streets of Beverley, when Dance Teams from around the country descend on the town for the 35th annual Folk Festival.
Quick-footed performers from Norfolk, Lincoln, Newcastle, Leeds, Coventry, Sheffield and Leeds will stage a range of traditional dances, including Rapper, Sword, Border and Step Clog Morris.
Each groups dances in styles that are steeped in tradition, but also include modern twists.
Alongside parading and performing in the historic town centre, they will also appear at the festival itself, located at Beverley Racecourse.
In addition, and back by popular demand, is the Frumptarn Guggenband!
Dressed in eye catching costumes and mixing brass instruments with punchy percussion, they proved to be a great hit with residents when they last performed in the town centre and are sure to get everyone dancing in the Beverley streets when they return this year.
Joining them will be Horwich Prize Medal Morris Men, Pecsaetan Morris from Sheffield, Lincoln’s finest Poacher Morris and more.
Festival Chairman Jim Pybus remarked ‘The festival is an annual celebration of not just the best in folk music, but also dance, spoken word and comedy. It is important to us that we schedule artists to perform in the town centre and hope people enjoy the sights and sounds on offer.”
Beverley Folk Festival is a family friendly event with plenty children’s activities, open air entertainment, a craft marquee, a food court and real ale – something for everyone in a great festival atmosphere!
Other bookings for the festival include – Calan, Greg Russell & Ciaran Algar, Megson, Habadekuk (DENMARK), Charlie Dore & Julian Littman, The Lucy Ward Band, Grace Petrie, Jess Morgan, The Boxcar Boys (CANADA), Katie Spencer & Foss Paterson, The Cody Sisters (USA), Beggar’s Bridge, Harbottle & Jonas and the Alterego Ceilidh Band.
Tickets for the weekend are already in demand and will grow even more as the festival announces more artists and other headliners in the coming weeks.
