The Subscription Rooms have announced some of the best in local and national folk acts for the 2014 Stroud Folk Festival taking place on Fri 26 Sept – Sat 27 Sept .
Following a ceilidh on Friday night, alongside Jim Moray and “Horizon” BBC Folk Award and Spiral Awards nominees Lady Maisery on Saturday, there will be the very splendid Heg and the Wolf Chorus, this year’s Bristol Folk Festival Isambard Award winner, Chris Cleverley, a bit of folk roots from The Willows, last year’s Five Valley Folk Award winners, The Black Feathers and, opening Saturday’s proceedings, local stars Folklaw.
The Five Valleys Folk Award competition will be held again this year for the final warm up spot for the soon-to-be-announced headline act. Lots of great bands have come forward to request consideration for this year’s festival. If you’d like to enter the Five Valleys competition for the final slot, they would love to hear from you. Details of how to apply will be available soon.
Music will be ringing round other venues across the town and the forecourt of the Subscription Rooms will be jangling with the sounds of many Morris bells all day too.
