Other acts who will be performing include Toni Bunnell; Leather’o; Dan Webster; Joshua Burnell & Band; Barcode Zebra; Laura Kindelan; Smith n Wallace; Fiona Lee; Robin, Gordon and Bushy; Simon Bolley Band; Slack Habits; Mulholland; The Bronze; Kitty VR; Bull; Andy Doonan; The Blueprints; Flora Greysteel; Kitsch; Atomic Raygun; the mesmerising Kymberley Kennedy; Unsigned Songwriter of the Year Winner Gracie Falls; renowned folk musician Boss Caine and North Lincolnshire’s folk extravaganza Ramble Gamble, who are returning to the festival after rave reviews in 2016!

Entry into the festival is free of charge, the venue is completely accessible and everyone is welcome. Throughout the event, York’s Little Festival of Live Music will be fundraising for York Mind, a local charity which helps local people with mental ill-health.

Mick has a powerful, resonant voice and Paul is a splendid guitarist and singer and together they effortlessly shift between moods – one minute light-hearted and whimsical, the next deeply personal and moving, the next solidly traditional, all inviting interaction with the audience.

Blackbeard’s Tea Party @ On Tour

Blackbeard’s Tea Party @ On Tour

Blackbeard’s Tea Party combine fiddle, melodeon and voice with the interlocking grooves of two hand percussionists, a distorted electric guitar, and funk-inflected bass patterns. Though their music often takes traditional tunes and songs as the starting point, it’s clear that Blackbeard’s Tea Party is not for folk purists.

John Smith + support @ Tudor Stables, Kenilworth Castle
Sep 23 @ 7:45 pm – 10:00 pm
John Smith + support @ Tudor Stables, Kenilworth Castle

John Smith has played to audiences all over the world in festival tents, living rooms and sold-out concert halls. He tours relentlessly with his guitars, looking to communicate through a song and to share something intangible with those willing to listen. His uniquely intimate take on love, loss or even a mythic murder ballad, combined with his innovative guitar work, have won him a loyal following.

John has opened shows for Iron and Wine, John Martyn, Tinariwen and Gil Scott-Heron, and has performed alongside the likes of Jackson Browne, Jerry Douglas, Richard Hawley, Jarvis Cocker and Rodney Crowell. In his occasional role as session musician he has played electric guitar for David Gray, Lisa Hannigan, LeAnn Rimes and Lianne La Havas.

We are thrilled to be welcoming John to Kenilworth Arts Festival 2017 for a one-off, intimate show in the beautiful Tudor Stables at Kenilworth Castle.
