Free live streaming for sold-out Steve Knightley gig

A sold-out gig featuring Show of Hands frontman Steve Knightley is to be streamed live on the internet this weekend.

Singer-songwriter Steve, who recently became co-patron of the fast-rising Shrewsbury Folk Festival, will be performing at Shrewsbury’s The Hive this Saturday (October 1).

The gig is part of a folk series jointly organised by the venue and Shrewsbury Folk Festival and this is the first time the organisers have opted to stream an event under their banner. It follows on from the innovative streaming of headline sets from the main stage of the Folk Festival which has enabled the annual August Bank Holiday event to reach a truly global audience.

The streaming service will be provided by Charles Denscombe of MicroVideo Shrewsbury, who is also responsible for the Folk Festival streaming – a natural progression from the arrival of big screens in the main arena.

Says Shrewsbury Folk Festival director Neil Pearson: “The festival is proud to extend its relationship with Microvideo. The opportunity to film and stream a sold out, intimate show with one of the finest folk and roots musicians in the UK was too good to miss and we’re pleased to be able to offer this show to everyone for free. We aim to develop the streaming service in coming months.”

The gig can be followed at http://live.stream264.com/from 7.45pm and will be available until Thursday, October 6.
